eBike Servicing & Care FAQS

Servicing eBikes is essential to ensure their optimal performance and longevity. Regular maintenance and repairs provided by professional technicians help identify and address any mechanical or electrical issues. From battery checks and replacements to brake adjustments and tire inspections, servicing eBikes guarantees a safe and smooth riding experience. Proper maintenance also extends the lifespan of components, reducing the need for costly replacements. With reliable servicing, eBike owners can enjoy maximum efficiency and peace of mind, knowing their vehicles are in top-notch condition for both daily commuting and recreational rides.

Regular servicing is essential to maintain the performance, safety, and lifespan of your eBike. How often you should service your eBike depends on factors like how often you ride, the terrain you tackle, and the local climate. As a general rule, we recommend a full service every six to twelve months. However, it’s always best to check the manufacturer’s guidelines or speak to one of our experts for advice tailored to your specific model and riding habits. Keeping up with regular maintenance ensures your eBike stays in top condition – so you can enjoy a smoother, safer, and more reliable ride.

To keep your eBike battery healthy and extend its lifespan, it’s best to recharge when it reaches around 50%, rather than letting it fully run down. Wherever possible, try to minimise the number of charging cycles – fewer, more thoughtful charges will help preserve long-term battery performance.

A full recharge typically takes around four hours, depending on your specific bike and charger. Always use the genuine charger supplied with your eBike to ensure safe, efficient charging and to avoid damaging the battery. While many modern systems — including Bosch and Shimano batteries — feature automatic shut-off technology once charging is complete, it is recommended not to leave your eBike charging overnight or unattended as an extra safety precaution.

If you’re storing your eBike over winter or for an extended period, don’t store it fully charged or completely empty. Instead, aim to store the battery at around 40–60% charge for optimal health.

Like any bike, eBikes need regular maintenance to keep them running smoothly. Keeping your bike clean, oiling the chain, and checking tyre pressures at least once a fortnight are simple but important steps. Use a wet lube for riding in wet or muddy conditions and a dry lube for fair weather.

If you’re lucky enough to enjoy a coastal commute here in Jersey, it’s especially important to wash off any salt spray as soon as possible. Salt can quickly cause corrosion to metal components, so a quick rinse can make a big difference to your bike’s lifespan.

While most eBikes are water-resistant, the battery should always be removed before cleaning.

If you’d rather not get your hands dirty – or don’t have the time or tools – our team is here to help! Let us take care of the maintenance, so you can simply enjoy the ride.

Your eBike comes with a power adaptor and cable for easy charging via a standard mains socket, connecting directly to the battery’s charging port. Always use the charger supplied or approved by your eBike’s manufacturer, as using an unapproved charger could damage the battery and void your warranty.

Regular servicing is essential to keep your eBike running at its best. Issues like rubbing brakes or poorly adjusted gears can cause unnecessary drag, reducing your battery range and overall efficiency. By investing in regular maintenance, you’ll enjoy smoother rides, better performance, and extend the life of your eBike.

For battery care, always store it in a dry location at room temperature, ideally between 10–20°C, and away from any combustible materials. Keeping your tyres inflated to the recommended pressure can also boost your battery range by up to 15%, helping you ride further on every charge.
