Sage the Precision Brewer® Thermal Review
“Both myself and my husband have been very impressed with the Sage Precision Brewer® Thermal coffee machine and enjoy using it on a regular basis. It was a little bit more expensive that the one we had previously, but with 6 unique brewing modes you can enjoy the perfect, balanced coffee exactly the way you like it. This brushed stainless steel machine is well built like the other Sage products we have purchased previously and matches well with other appliances in our kitchen.
The only setting up we had to do to get going was do a water hardness test using a strip supplied with the machine, which took no time at all to do. Then all you need to do is flush some fresh water through the system and you’re ready to go. You can change the settings to either °C or °F to suit your own personal preference, and the adjustable and precise digital temperature control delivers superior tasting coffee every time.
You can make up to twelve cups of coffee at a time, but you don’t have to make as much as this and can make as little as one cup if that is all you need. If only wanting one cup, instead of placing the carafe on the machine, just put your favourite mug in its place making sure you place it directly under the brew basket outlet. Be careful however not to overfill the 1.7L water container as it will keep pouring until completely empty.
The machine will only take ground coffee so if you have fresh beans you will have to grind them beforehand. It comes with two reusable filter baskets; one for flat bottom filters (in the box you will find ten paper filters for this basket to get you started) and one for cone shaped filters. The flat bottom filter is to be used when you make eight or more cups of coffee at a time and the cone shaped filter is for a lesser quantity. You can buy either of these types of filter papers in many shops and supermarkets.
To ensure regular maintenance, the machine will let you know when it needs to be descaled (descaler sold separately) which takes just over 30 minutes. The machine comes with a water filter which will need to be replaced every 3 months, particularly if you live in a hard water area (replacement filters also sold separately).
Whilst in use the machine is very quiet and will simply beep when your coffee is ready. The coffee produced is a lot hotter than what we experienced with our previous low-cost filter coffee machine and stays very warm in the thermal carafe for over an hour. The timer on the front conveniently reminds you when you last brewed your coffee. You can also program to make iced coffee which is very refreshing in the summer.
The water container does not come away so to fill it up you will need to use a jug. There is an in-built clock on that stays on all the time so you can set everything up the night before and wake up to a delicious, fresh cup of coffee in the morning.
I would highly recommend the Sage Precision Brewer® Thermal and just wish I had found it before going through multiple cheaper alternatives!”
